Apple Health · HealthKit

Your desk walks become
real HealthKit workouts

Every session DeskWalker records is written to Apple Health as a proper Walking workout — energy, distance and duration included — so your rings close and every other app sees the full picture.

A two-way conversation with Health

DeskWalker doesn't just write — it reads the signals only Apple Health has, then uses them to sharpen every number. No manual entry, ever.

❤️
Heart rate & VO₂max
Pulled from your Apple Watch to run the Keytel HR formula for a far more accurate calorie estimate.
Afterburn (EPOC)
Reads post-session active energy from Health — the extra calories burned while your body recovers.
🔄
Silent recalibration
Watch data often lands minutes late — DeskWalker quietly re-computes recent sessions in the background.

Features

Made for the pad, not for your wrist

Your wrists barely move while you type, so generic step counters miss most of it. DeskWalker derives steps and distance from belt speed instead — the way a treadmill actually works.

🔥
Research-grade calories
SMU treadmill oxygen-cost equation, Keytel heart-rate regression, and Apple Watch VO₂max combine for the most accurate estimate available.
👣
Steps from belt speed
Apple Watch under-counts walking-pad steps by 60–80%. DeskWalker derives them from belt speed and your height instead.
❤️
Apple Health sync
Writes each session as a Walking workout and reads heart rate & VO₂max back — no manual input, rings close on their own.
Live Activity & Island
Watch your timer, speed and calories tick up on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you keep working.
🏅
Badges & streaks
Earn milestones — First Steps, Desk Warrior, Century, Marathon Desk — and keep your daily streak alive.
🔒
Private by design
No account, no cloud, no analytics. Every byte stays on your iPhone and in Apple Health — nowhere else.

How it works

From pad to Apple Health in three taps

No Bluetooth pairing, no setup, no manual config. Open the app and walk.

1
Set your speed
Enter the belt speed shown on your pad's display. DeskWalker remembers it for next time.
2
Start & keep working
The timer runs in the background. A Live Activity shows progress on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island (Pro).
3
Stop & it's in Health
Get a full summary — calories, EPOC, steps, distance, heart rate — and the session lands in Apple Health as a Walking workout automatically.
4
Recalibrates itself
Late-arriving watch data? DeskWalker silently re-calculates recent sessions in the background so numbers stay honest.

Science-backed formulas. Calories use the SMU treadmill oxygen-cost equation (ACSM 2021), the Keytel et al. heart-rate regression (J Sports Sci, 2005), and a MET fallback (Ainsworth Compendium, 2011). Steps use the sex-neutral stride constant from DeVita & Hortobágyi (J Appl Physiol, 2000).
